The reply that Ombudsman office wrote on Sep 11th came to my hand just today Oct 7th - looks like they have backlog in mailing letters as well.
Anyway - the summary of the letter is similar to he email discussion few days back ( as below ) ... USCIS should get back to me in 45 days i.e end of Oct 08
Today morning Ombudsman replied to my 2nd email ( as below) and confirmed my address - they said that a reply has been sent to me on Sep 11th for my 7001.
Then i sent a return email saying i didn't receive any reply till today Oct 2nd and he further emailed me back saying that USCIS must give me a response by Oct 30th on my Pending I-140. Keeping fingers crossed - will post here if i see any LUD or activity in my I-140 in the next 3 weeks time.

First of all why do U wanna ask that? Its an employment based visa that ur GC is based on. So, ur employer shud ask that. Why are u asking IVans to do something which is not in their control??? I keep getting red and dont mind if I'm banned. But excuse me...u r misleading IVans. My point is this. We can protest, rally based on the delay. Thats pretty much we can do. Inquiring into a Government agency's internal affairs is none of ur business. And I repeat u dont have any rights to do that as u have NO direct link to USCIS. I485 is an individual application. It has nothing to do with the employer even in the EB cases. The basis for I485 can be an EB I140. USCIS is answerable to the employer for I140 and answerable to the immigrant for I485. However, I don't think you have the mental capability to understand this obvious law.
Immigrants don't get to vote and may not have other rights such a welfare, social securicty etc. But USA as the greatest democracy on earth provides almost all of the rights to citizens and foreigners alike. In fact you can complain to your local, state & federal lawmakers and they will help you in your problems.
And yes a foreigner has the right to complain about any govt. organization including USCIS if their processes are adversely effecting him or her. These are the basic principles of the US democracy.
Even though relatively US has one of the best functional govt.. sometimes it still takes lot of effort and time for the wheels to turn. Thats what IV is trying to achieve.

For all the replies to my post. I understand that there are many others in the same situation I am in, who can understand and feel the injustices of this process.
I understand that we made personal choices and we have to take responsibility for our actions, if something is clear is that h1-B is a NON-EMIGRANT visa. I just wish there was more transparency from the USA government when it comes to apply for PR through employment. The backlogs and collapse of the system, only reflect the lack of interest in solving the problem which in my opinion it's also a reflection of the lack of interest in having any more skilled professionals coming to the US.
Most of the participants in this forum are from India. I appreciate your insights and wisdom, you are well known for being spiritual people who work hard through hardships in life. Many of you have left here important advices and I am grateful for that.
Personally I have done my best to live a life outside this green card ordeal. I have moved on trying to live a normal life without being obsessed with this problem, but as most of you know, reality hits quite often and we are reminded of the limitations that our legal position imposes, more often than not.

My Loan is not Jumbo loan, its under 400K
I don't have 20% down. But I was speaking to the Loan officer, he was telling, it doesn't matter if you put more down or not, 3yr forward continuous visa is req. I never heard this earlier.
I finally got the Loan Approved !
The underwriters was OK with my H1B + I-140 Approval + I-485 Reciept.
Thank you all for the tips and leads.
After a long 60 day wait, I m finally getting the house on Monday. :)

I talked to my lawyer and she didn't mention about any kind of delay so can you please give me some more details about this PIM and how does it affect the whole process and slow things down.

scorion PIM process is a new additional step that is now part of visa stamping process. if you read around here you will find out more about it but in short uscis office in kentucy has to scan and upload all your supporting documents i.e employement letter etc that you might have used to get an H1 approval. The embassy you will visit for visa stamping has to review all the uploaded doc's before stamping your visa. Now I read in one of the thread here that someone in chennai has been stuck for over 3 to 4 weeks after their visa intvw just because the PIM process is not done. Hope this helps. Arrived in Jul 1999. Worked for a consulting company till July 2000 as consultant (client - a major computer server maker). Joined the client July 2000. Even now, same job, same designation. Luckily my employer applied for EB3 BEC labor (May 2004). Since it got stuck, my boss convinced exec mgmt to apply for EB 3 PERM in Aug 2006. PERM labor got thru in Nov 2006. PERM based I-140 got thru in March 2007. Applied for I-485 in July 2007. BEC labor came thru in Oct 2007. Filed I-140 for BEC labor and it got thru in Feb 2008. Interfiled and now PD on I-485 is May 2004 (EB3 - India).
On some site there was a way to know how many are ahead of me, given my PD, my nationality and my category. And looks like some 25,500+ EB3 cases are ahead of me.. Some 10+ years... Honestly, life has more to it than a colored card... let us move on with life... I will not allow the card to determine (ruin) my life...!!!!

I am on H1 and AOS and I refinanced my house at 5% . There were no issues and no questions. Just all the usual documents - W2 , paystubs etc etc . It was with a local bank too and not with any high profile institution.
