My husbands DL expires on Oct 1st, 2007. The North Carolina DMV insists that he should have a valid H1B visa stamp in his PP in order to renew the license. He does have a valid H1B extension with I-94 at the bottom till Oct.2009. We dont want to leave the country as we are filing for our I-485's.
Any one in NC have any suggestions?

IV has had its first big success this year and we should all be proud of what we can all do. We worked hard and left no stone unturned to get this relief for our members. During the last few days there has been some movement on the National Defense Authorization Act and work on DREAM and SKIL provisions. It is now upto us how we can seize the opportunity and focus on the lobbying efforts on legislative front. Not a single penny has been reimbursed to him for his trips to DC, food and stay in DC or car rental in DC. We in the core team know this and when we see the kind of contributions we get from members, we feel disappointed that our efforts are not valued. When we started the $20 contributions people felt $20 was too high and wanted $10 per month or less. I think we need to emphasize the fact that typically guys who got stuck in BEC for many years are the same guys being effected again, as they just got out of BEC queue and filled concurently and now basically are stuck again, it is really ridiculous experience for this group of applicants, where as people who have applied in PERM or those who were able to get LC certified without getting into BEC have gone through the whole process relatively smoothly....
My 2 cents, based on my experience.

I'd look at it a different way. Without USCIS u and I wudn't have made it to the US. When u came to the US, u implicitly agreed upon the rules and regulations of USCIS. When u applied for ur GC, u very well knew what USCIS is and how they function.They have an immigration system which has been going on for several years now and all the immigration aspirants have played by their rules and never questioned how it worked though their cases were delayed for whatever reason. Why shud the USCIS even entertain somebody questioning them now? They'll simply say...Who are u to ask? We have been functioning like this for ages now. If u dont like it, just say good bye...but this is how we function.
That is what every government wishes their citizens would do--just accept like obedient little sheep. I say that one should choose not to give them a free pass. Otherwise they'll continue to walk all over you. Citizen or not, being a sheep is not an option. Besides, we did not move to a dictatorship. We moved to a democracy--or at least it is trumpeted as such. Let them walk the walk.

I have always been a passive reader of this post and multiple other similar posts. It helped me a lot and I thought sharing my positive porting experience will help/encourage others. Below are details of my long journey
1. Initial labor
a. Filed - July 8 2003 (no masters, no 5 years, Title: Systems Analyst)
b. Approved - August 31 2006
2. EB3 I140 (NSC)
a. Filed - October 11 2006
b. Approved - April 6 2007
3. I485 (NSC)
a. Filed - July 19 2007
b. RFE - April 2009 (Birth Certificate related for me and Medical related for my wife)
4. Perm
a. Same company. By 2011, I was promoted multiple times and currently managing multiple projects. Every H1b that was approved after 2003 clearly showed the growth and the promotion on the job title and salary.
b. Filed - Feb 9 2011 (Progressive growth within the same company, Title: Project Director)
c. Approved - Feb 15 2011
5. EB2 I140 (TSC)
a. Filed - March 9 2011, Premium Processing
b. Approved - March 21 2011 (A# and Priority Date retained)
6. Interfiling
a. March 24 2011 - Created a SR requesting the process I485 using the new EB2 140
b. March 29 2011 - Lawyer sent the official Interfile Request
c. April 5 2011 - Contacted both the senators and congressman. They were very prompt in responding back. Also sent emails to NSCFollowup and EBUpdate.
d. April 7 2011 - Went for an Infopass Appointment (Useless in my opinion)
e. April 14 2011 - Got the magic email at 9:15pm for both me and my wife. One of the happiest days in my life.
f. Waiting on the physical cards to take a long break :)

America does not need to do anything to get more workers. People will keep coming and it will always be a positive flow of good talent into America. The only Indians (and others) who might tell you that they do not want to come to the USA and the American dream is gone, etc., are talking bull and they know it. They will jump on a plane "the next minute" and come if the could. It's the same thing always: Go back Yankeee.................................and take me with you."

America wants to have it both ways, they want people here but do not want to give GCs either.
I graduated from a good college in India. My classmates are divided 50-50 in US and India. The people who are putting up here either did very well and were toppers or failures. All others stayed in India and they will come here only if there is a long term benefit to come here.

How about people are using it as a loop hole and smack you down. Just because you have the option, it does not mean the right thing.
It is not the right thing -- from your perspective, because you can't take advantage of it. From the USA point of view multinational executives can potentially create jobs and that's why they must be allowed

I filed my labor on Feb 5th and still in processing. My lawyer has opened an enquiry but so far no response. I read this in the Immigration -law site:
As to the problem of Atlanta National Service Center delays, there were rush of H-2B case filings and that Center had to switch around the resources from PERM to H-2B cases. However, the situation is under control and the Atlanta Center will see positive changes from here on in terms of the processing times. There are aware that in light of the immigrant visa number changes in July 2007, such changes should help in achieving some level of fairness.
Hope something works out quickly before we miss the bus. I am planning to send an email or request to my Senator. Any ideas on this?

Looks like MDix is making fun of EB3-I bcoz current law doesn't allow any spillover for EB3-I category. Damn you MDix.
