My application was finally approved yesterday after almost 7 years in queue. Here is the sequence of events right before the approval.
RFE email on 02/13/09
2nd Biometrics Notice received on 02/17/09
Lawyer receives RFE for EVL, EAD cards and Marriage Certificate on 02/24/09
Completed Code 3 Biometrics on 02/26/09
Soft LUD immediately after Biometrics on 02/26/09
USCIS receives RFE reply on 02/27/09, Hard LUD and email on the same day
Another soft LUD on 03/02/09
CPO email on 03/10/09
Welcome email on 03/10/09
My PD has been current for a long time, but my application had not been touched and then suddenly USCIS became a model of efficiency. I am sure they are opening applications and approving or RFE'ing all they can. Hang in there guys.
I am a bit curious. How did you manage to stay in same company for 7 years. Or did you do labor transfer or changed company using EAD/AP.

Good they have seem to have read recently published IV analysis and recommendations and provided a much more detailed bulletin this month for the community.

There was a change in LUD for both me and my wife on 3/4/09. Then on my wife's, there were LUD ON 3/5 & now 3/6/09 also. When I open the Case Number, it shows the usual information "Current Status: Case received and pending". Any idea what this could mean. Thanks.

Visa number is differnt from A #- which is application number.
Law allows only 140,000 EB visas per year, which are again subject to country quotas,EB categories etc
Every 485 approval uses a Visa number.
So for 485 approval there should be a visa number available.
In last quarter of every year, USCIS can approve 485s irrespective of country limits inorder to use up all visa numbers.
That is what happened in June/July and happening now- Inorder to exhaust remaning 60K visas for yr 2007, USCIS assigned a visa number to pending 485's before approving them.(Tons of approvals coming from NSC and TSC are for cases that had visa number preassigned before July 2nd Visa bulletein revision)

Cases are being pre-adjucated, So there are RFEs and other inquiries...After this, they will wait for visa number in PD Queue....which is a good thing...This assures there will be no wastage this year....
Anycase, it looks like there will be significant forward movement...

dont worry, the above scenario would happen only if pd remaines current.This is highly unlikely. In the next few months PD would retrogress to for instance 2004 , then you'll get your GC first :) Cheer up buddy:)

There is no doubt about NRIs are the prime reason for the real estate boom in India. It is tottally unbelivable that 2 bedroom flat in a normal second class town has gone to up to 40 lakes. Decent independent houses are in terms of crores in small cites. Two factors. One is foreign money and second in black money from local dadas/politicians. Also demand vs supply. The availble land is small and demand for that land is too high due to these two gropus.
I visited one of my NRI friends house in India, where he is not going to live as he is a US citizen. His parents already won two houses and they bought another house as a investment. This house in a recent development area in a small town where there is no high tech employment is avialable; In my feeling it may not worth 5 lakes; they were selling at 45 lakes. Even if anyone ready to pay 45 lakes there is no unit is avialable; everything was sold to NRIs. No resident won the houses in that area. All the dads and mos are baby sitting the houses. Renting alos not that easy. It is tottally unbelivable. I wonder why all the NRIs buying house in India and increisng the house price? The guys working here (or any part of the world) and not going to live in India, why government should allow to buy the house and increse the price? Everyone tries to do real estate bussiness there. That is the main reason for price increase.
Is is sad. All these NRIs are going to learn a very valuable lesson. Speculation is not a good strategy for investing. A lot learned that in the past few months here in USA. In a year we will be seeing the full blown post bubble correction in India. If one can rent an apartment for 15,000 why would one buy it for 50 lakhs. The interest alone on 50 lakhs is 50,000 every month. It is like buy and rent it and loose money. Instead why don't they deposit in a bank and get 50,000 every month:confused:

How insane you are, you are giving the credit of that to USCIS ??? I think you were sleping when people had rallies in CA and IV had 'flowers to USCIS' campaign, how about Zoe Lofergn's threat, I'm sure you don't know any thing. USCIS shares most of the responsibility of you and I being on this forum. USCIS was doing a tardy job and wasting several thousand green card numbers every year that's why DOS had to push them by making the world wide dates current. And 'no' they did not 'realize' any mistake, they did not want to get into legal trouble and get publically exposed(Zoe Lofergn asked for emails and all communication regarding Visa cut off dates). So they took the shortest and safest way to get out ...that u r crying over USCIS issues? Chill dude :). They were gracious enough to realise their mistake last year and hand out EADs to everyone. Full marks to USCIS for being spontaneous and doing the right thing at the right time. Infact its ppl like u who will always keep cribbing no matter what. Even after u get ur GC u will crib over citizenship delays. Shame on u.
