I congratulate everyone whoes PD becomes current beginning of next month. But be aware that all of this is no good until USCIS acts on it. USCIS has to match and increase their pace of processing I-140 & I-485s for people to benefit of this movement. There are thousands of people whose PD have been current since April of this year and still they see no movement on their cases. PD becoming current is just the first & crucial step in this long process, but now it all depends on how well USCIS responds by processing cases in FIFO manner.

I am not sure if USCIS will move beyond April 2004 until Jan 2009 due to the holidays and election and as someone said they want to take it easy. Even if they move the dates it does'nt help unless they approve cases with certain process in place.

Trust me, after waiting at PBEC for almost 2 years,I know what BEC is. I was just saying that a person who got LC certified in 2004 didn't have to go thru BEC. They started transferring cases at the beginning of 2005.

Please continue to post your comments on the letter - the sooner we can all agree upon the content, the sooner we can start sending these out.
Also, is there a possibility of having a common meeting (all retrogressed EB3 candidates) with Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren expressing our situation - just a thought.

Yeah that's the million dollar question, schedule A workers allready have 50K qouta, but that kicks off only after the regular EB3 numbers becomes unavailable, so they first use the regular EB3 number. Now they might have kept the status qou on that rule(first use regular EB-3 quota) and then instead of giving a fixed 50K quota they may use as many numbers after that. So basically what I'm saying is for non schedule A workers this amendment may not mean any thing.
It's a pessimistic view, but that's how immigration system have been in past 3-4 years.

I have not received the physical receipt notice yet. But the online case status says "On July 11, 2007, we received this I485 APPLICATION" even though it was physically delivered and signed at Nebraska Service center on June, 15th. I will post once I get the physical copy of receipt notice to update every one.
May be some others that have already received the physical copy of receipt notices can clarify the difference between the receipt date on the notice vs. the online status that says ""On July 11, 2007, we received..."

IV members have saved you a lot of money on attorney phone calls, getting answers to medical test questions and other general questions. Please contribute to IV so that we can keep this effort going. My husbands DL expires on Oct 1st, 2007. The North Carolina DMV insists that he should have a valid H1B visa stamp in his PP in order to renew the license. He does have a valid H1B extension with I-94 at the bottom till Oct.2009. We dont want to leave the country as we are filing for our I-485's.
Any one in NC have any suggestions?
We recently went got our driving licenses renewed with our H visa extension I-797s. DMV didn't ask for an unexpired visa. All they wanted was a visa stamp in the passport to make sure that we legally entered US.

USCIS has proven again that they cannot calculate or count. Don't you think they should be presented with this calculator to help them calculate.
