As Rodney King famously remarked, "Why can't we all get along?" As Democrats and Republicans in Congress have spent the past year beating each other up regarding the health care bill, do we want the same thing to happen with immigration this year? Goal = 5000 votes on survey (see I-485 filing w/o current PD thread) and momentum to continue with this campaign.The survey is a platform to gather and push for launching action items. Based on response by 04/30/2011 - IV will decide whether to even proceed with initiative or not.

As suggested by pappu/starsun, this supporting thread provides impacted members with additional information and tools to help the initiative.

As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

Hi,
Based on what I know, the medical exam has to be less than 1 year old on the date of I-485 application submission. However, I have seen different opinions on this forum. Some state that the exam date cannot be more than 30 days before I-485 submission, because the HIV test and syphyllis test (sorry if not typed correctly) are valid for 30 days only. Could anyone clarify this, please?

My wife filed I-539 for changing status from H-4 to F-1 at end of May. We have the receipt and the case is now pending. Is it possible for her to request cancellation of this change of status and continue in H-4 status? If so, does anyone know how to ask USCIS for this?

Keeping in view the current and anticipated situation in Oct 2007, would priority date transfer help me at all or I will have to face same processing times?
My assumption is that visa numbers will be unavailable from Aug 17th to Oct '07 and when the new visa number become available, the dates will retrogress to 2003 or 2004 ... who knows. So using old PD may earn me advantage in that case.

I have a coworker who is a citizen of Canada and got I-140 approved yesterday.
The question is how safe, easy and hassle-free it will be to do a CP (Counselor Processing) from Canada instead of I-485? CP will be done in US embassy in Montreal. Do you guys know any experiences from your other friends? Any relevant information will be appreciated.

It is a one way street once that check is cashed. No refunds from USCIS. If the application gets returned from the mailroom for some mistake like missing signature, you will get your check submitted back.

No. You can file two I-140 petitions from the same employer and your approved H-1B for three years is not in trouble. I don't blame you for your deepest concern in this issue, as USCIS made each and everyone of us so concerned about our every walk of our life.

A new poll from ABC News shows a seemingly contradictory result. Nearly six in ten support the controversial Arizona law SB1070. That will make the Tea Party crowd happy.
