I am in a unique situation. I have filed for my H1B through company A and pretty recently got a 3 year extension too. I also have an approved Labor and I-140 through them. This May the company had an asset only aquisition and is now operating under a new name and Employee ID. Since we are all open to file our I-485 I contacted my immigration lawyer and explained the company reorganization. At first the lawyer was claiming that we should file an Amended I-140 due to the reorg. My company lawyer informed my Immigration Lawyer that the new company has not taken over the liabilities of the old company, it only took over the assets. Now my immigration lawyer claims that I will have to transfer my H1B to the new company and move forward with my original I-485 application and then port after 180 days. I wanted to get a second opinion from someone on this board.

Hi all.
Does anyone know if one can import a Poser file into Swift 3D, animate it, and export it as a vector-animated movie to Flash 5? It would be nice to see Poser characters move well in Flash without having to rely solely on Flash.

Hi friends
I travelled out of USA and am trying to get back into USA with AP. I am using H1B(not stamped).
THey temporarily transferred to me indian office for this duration.
I also have EAD with me(not yet started to use).Now My co. is not letting me to go back to USA
without a project.If incase i want to change my employer, how can I do it..
Will it hurt to go back without employers permission to USA and then to use EAD to get a job?
After this I plan to submit my resignation.For EAD, 180 days already crossed.
If I want to do the above,how many days I have to get a job with EAD with a new employer after I go to USA?
What are my options?

This is from the "What Would You Do?" series and the question explored is how customers in a restaurant will react to a security guard asking Latinos for their identification in a restaurant in southern Arizona. I am currently doing my MBA here on a H4 visa. I want to know if I would be eligible to apply for the H1 Visa ( in the 20,000 quota) without converting to
F1 status. Please advise.

You woulkd be eligible provided you have completed your MBA. If you are still working on it then you would not be considered an advanced Degree HOLDER.

I think if she didn't indicate that she intended to do CP in her I-140, but rather indicated she intended to do AOS in the US, then it will be a pain in the neck to switch to CP

Enrique's Journey (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5225180) is a very powerful book written by an LA Times journalist about illegal migrants who take the Tren de los muertos, or the Train of the Dead to get to the US.
Will it be the kind of book, like 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Tom's_Cabin) to shake the conscience of a country to generate true Immigration reform? Will it move the likes of even politicians, who have no conscience, and get Immigration Reform accomplished?
I hope so. I had tears all through while reading the excerpts from the book, and hearing Sonia Nazario on NPR today.
As a disclaimer, this is my personal opinion - IV has no position on the issue of illegal immigration.

I would like some information on the H1B quota starting Oct 2007 that people will begin filing for starting this April. How soon is the quota for those with advanced degrees from the US likely to get filled? Can someone answer when the quota was used up last year - i.e. how many days after the start was the quota filled?

Nobody can predict when the quota will fill up. However, note that there are wide spread rumors about the regular quota being used up as early as the first day and Masters within a few weeks. Its in your best interest to file as early as possible.

I am a US Citizen and will be filing a petition (i 130) to bring my mother over on a greencard.
Recently on her visit to the US on a visitor visa she was marked as NO AOS/COS/EOS on her I - 94
and she left by the date specified on her i - 94.
My question is will it have any effect on her GC petition and what is the current wait time for consular processing on an i-130 petition
