    Hi,
I just got H1B. My wife is currently on her F-1/OPT. Can anyone guide me where I can find required documents to apply for H4 for my wife? Do you think I can do it myself or it needs a lawyer?
    Thank you,
    John

My wife is currently on H4 and we have EAD/AP, though not used. She is planning to apply for H1 with new employer.

When approved, does she need to leave the country and get visa stamped before starting employment.

If she leaves the country and enters using the AP document, will it cause any issues with her H1. Any input will be appreciated. Thank you.

Can you use your spouse's cross-chargeability after you have filed for your I-140 already?

How time consuming is this for the USCIS to acknowledge?

Does spouse also need to have a GC application filed at that time or if your spouse is from a non-retrogressed country but not working then you can use her also?

Conservatives Launch Caucus (http://www.rollcall.com/issues/53_52/news/20766-1.html) By John Stanton | ROLL CALL STAFF, October 31, 2007

Frustrated by what they see as a party gone astray, a group of House and Senate conservatives led by Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) today will announce a new bicameral caucus aimed at returning fiscal restraint, ethics and national defense to the fore of the GOP's philosophical and policy platforms.

The group - which in addition to DeMint and Hensarling is made up of Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and Rep. John Campbell (R-Calif.) - will officially announce the creation of their new caucus - dubbed Reagan21. They also will unveil their "statement of policy commitment," which includes 10 key positions on issues ranging from Congressional earmarks to health care reform.

While participants are billing the new caucus as a complement to the leadership teams in place in the House and Senate, Republicans familiar with the project acknowledge that to a certain degree it is a challenge to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), because implicitly the call for a new direction is a rejection of the course they have steered along with President Bush.

"When you're saying, 'Here's the vision of what the party should be,' you're saying the vision isn't there right now," said a House Republican not directly involved with the effort.

A second Republican agreed, arguing that a more broad change in how the party runs is needed.

"Whenever there's a vacuum in elected or political leadership, there's a need to fill it. When you have leadership positions not resulting in leadership, people will go elsewhere," the second Republican said, adding the problems of the party go far beyond simple messaging conflicts.

"It's a fight for [the GOP's] soul, not just a superficial divide. There are people who believe it's the job of Republican Members to come here and send money home to their states and to expand government. And that's just not what rank-and-file party members want."

Today's announcement of the group's principles for reform of the Republican Party are the first in a series of steps that the caucus will take over the next several months. Members are in the process of setting up independent outside institutions - similar to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation - to support their activities, and they will have a Web site up and running in the next few weeks.

Although details of those plans were unclear at press time Tuesday, one member of the group said the caucus will use the foundation as a semi-independent apparatus to communicate with Republicans outside Washington, D.C., as well as the general public.

Although members of the group declined to comment on the caucus on the record, one Member involved said the lawmakers believe the GOP's elected leaders have strayed from the party's traditional fiscal conservative roots.

"A few of us here are trying to change the culture" of the GOP, the lawmaker said, adding that "the core values of the Republican Party are not being adhered to by the party inside Congress. But there's a yearning for it outside the Beltway."

According to Republicans familiar with the effort, it arose from meetings between DeMint, who chairs the Republican Steering Committee in the Senate, and Hensarling, who chairs the Republican Study Committee in the House. Both organizations are the hub for conservative efforts in the chambers, and following the disastrous 2006 election, DeMint and Hensarling began holding meetings in an effort to better coordinate their efforts.

Eventually, the two began to bring other lawmakers into these Member-only meetings. Following months of discussion, the group decided to start the caucus, choosing a name that would invoke the core fiscal principles of former President Ronald Reagan for the 21st century.

The principles - which new members will be required to make a pledge to follow and which will be the centerpiece of the group's legislative and public outreach efforts - cover a wide variety of issues. For instance, members of the caucus will be required to foreswear asking for any new earmarks in legislation. The principles also call for reforms to the tax code and entitlement programs, including the implementation of personal "ownership" of retirement security and health care decisions, according to a copy of a document obtained by Roll Call. Members of the caucus also will support expansion of intelligence and other national defense programs, as well as an aggressive border security approach to immigration.

While all of the members of the group would likely fall under the broad rubric of "social conservatives," the principles steer clear of issues like abortion or gay marriage. According to those involved in the effort, members of Reagan21, according to one, have decided that while those issues are important to them, they have decided to "focus on the fiscal policy issues that I think really killed us last year."

Republicans privately also applauded the decision to stay with traditional fiscal issues rather than expand the group's focus into social topics. One source noted that while most base Republican voters are fierce social conservatives, many independent voters and disaffected Democrats - who agree with the GOP on fiscal issues and ethics - are turned off by the party's heavy tilt toward its social wing.

According to GOP aides, the group has operated under strict confidentiality rules as it has hashed out how it will operate and what its mission should be - so much so that staff continue to have only a sketchy idea of what their bosses are envisioning. Additionally, the members of the group have agreed to not tip their hand to either Boehner or McConnell before today's news conference, although they have begun reaching out to like-minded Members in the House and Senate to join the group.

The formation of the caucus is the latest in a series of breaks between conservatives, particularly in the Senate, and the party's traditional power centers this year. DeMint and Coburn have openly and repeatedly attacked "Old Bulls" in the party like Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) for their use of earmarks. Additionally, conservatives openly broke with their leaders this spring over the immigration bill.

The Reagan21 member cautioned that the caucus's critique of current GOP positions should not be seen as members "tak[ing] a swipe at anybody" in leadership positions. "They've got a tough job and it's hard to get your arms around the whole party" in a way that could facilitate reform, the lawmaker explained, adding that Reagan21 participants see themselves as "the conscience of the Republican Party here" in Washington.

But reform will be key if Republicans are to avoid further electoral loses next year, this member said.

"Unless the Republicans get together and define themselves we're going to get caught in fog. ... I don't want to be Democrat-lite," the lawmaker said, adding that the group hopes to attract Members who have long been fiscal conservatives as well as new recruits. Reagan21 hopes "that a lot of these Republicans who like to think they can have it both ways - go home and talk like conservatives but come here and vote for whatever they want - will be forced to come to our side. We can't continue to allow a few people in our party continue to pervert what we are about."

G.O.P. Lawmakers Voice Their Unease (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/14/washington/14repubs.html) By CARL HULSE | New York Times, October 14, 2007

WASHINGTON, Oct. 13 Members of the White House communications team invited their Capitol Hill counterparts down to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue the other day to see how Republican morale was holding up in Congress. The answer: Not so well.

Under fierce attack on childrens health insurance, beset by politically inconvenient retirements and uncertain if another scandal lurks around the corner, Congressional Republicans are feeling a bit under siege as even one of their former leaders predicts 2008 could be a Democratic year.

We are not happy, no doubt about it, said one of the senior Republican Congressional aides who attended the Oct. 5 meeting at the White House and would talk about the internal session only without being identified by name.

The twist is that the issue Republicans had feared most in the fall, the war in Iraq, has played out legislatively in their favor for the moment. In concert with the White House, Congressional Republicans say they were able to execute a strategy built around the testimony of General David H. Petraeus that allowed them to forestall Democratic calls for troop withdrawals and hold the party together on the war at a crucial turn.

But Republicans say they have lacked a similar cohesive plan to counter the Democratic assault over the childrens health insurance program that will be the subject of a veto override vote in the House on Thursday. President Bushs veto of an expansion of that program and the strategic failure have exposed vulnerable Republicans to a backlash and allowed the party to be painted as uncaring.

As a result, Republicans have been scrambling for a health care response at a time when they had hoped to be pounding Democrats over excessive spending and re-establishing their image as the party of fiscal restraint.

We need to be on offense, said Representative Tom Davis, a Virginia Republican considering a Senate run.

At the White House, administration officials urged Congressional Republicans to try to remain positive and ride out the current turmoil. Ed Gillespie, a senior adviser to Mr. Bush, told the visitors, according to multiple accounts, that had Republicans sided with Democrats on the health program, they would have opened themselves to withering criticism from conservatives and been in a worse position than they are now.

But that was small solace to Congressional Republicans who worry that the White House does not fully appreciate their political difficulties and that Mr. Bush, who will not be on the ballot next year, has put them in harms way with his opposition to the childrens health care bill. Many Republicans say the White House should have been more aggressive early on in getting behind a counterproposal.

The president has let the debate on health care down by not offering an alternative, said Representative John R. Kuhl Jr., Republican of New York.

The childrens health insurance program is not the only development that has some Republicans down. A string of retirements in the Senate and House continued Friday with the decision by Representative Ralph Regula, a veteran Republican from Ohio, to step aside in a district where Democrats could be competitive.

Worried about increasing departures, the House leadership has been encouraging Representative Steve Pearce of New Mexico to forgo a run for the Senate and avoid opening a second Republican-held House seat in a state where Democrats are gaining strength. A fellow Republican, Representative Heather A. Wilson, is already running for the seat being vacated by Senator Pete V. Domenici.

Republicans also have lawmakers under criminal investigation in the House and the Senate, raising the possibility of a recurrence of the election-year corruption fallout that damaged Republicans in 2006.

And House Republicans could not have been happy with comments by the former majority leader Dick Armey, the ex-congressman from Texas. He predicted in an interview with The Gazette-Journal of Reno, Nev., that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Democrat of New York, would be elected president next year and that it is going to get worse before it gets better.

Yet Republicans say Democrats have problems of their own, as shown by low public approval ratings for Congress. And the Republican leadership in the House and Senate was hoping it had struck on an effective message on the health care legislation, saying the refusal by Democrats to negotiate over the bill showed the party was more interested in political insurance than health coverage.

While some on the left believe they are gaining political points by criticizing Republicans rather than legislating, at the end of the day their focus on politics may come at the expense of S-chip, said Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona, the third-ranking Republican, referring to the State Childrens Health Insurance Program.

Other Republicans say the public is fed up with constant gamesmanship.

They cannot stand the partisan bickering, said Representative Judy Biggert, an Illinois Republican who is under fire for her opposition to the health care bill.

Congressional Republicans say their political fortunes have to improve at some point. They think the emergence of a party presidential nominee early next year will help get them out from under the shadow of the unpopular Bush White House. And while they might not be thrilled that Mr. Armey is predicting a Clinton victory, they believe her nomination could be a powerful motivator for Republican activists and donors.

Republicans are also banking on an overall anti-incumbent atmosphere. They point to a special House election to be held in Massachusetts on Tuesday, saying that Jim Ogonowski, a Republican running as a government outsider in a heavily Democratic district, has presented a stronger than anticipated challenge to Niki Tsongas, a well-connected Democrat.

There is clearly an anti-Washington sentiment out there if you are a Republican challenger who can capitalize on it, said Jessica Boulanger, a spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee. Democrats have reason to be worried.

As of April 15, 2010, approximately 13,600 H-1B cap (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html)-subject petitions had been filed. USCIS has approved 5,800 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees.

Many immigration lawyers are seeing a sharp decline in the interest in the H1B visa this year by potential employers and workers. Some are saying that the downturn in H1B applications this year could be as much as 60%. As a result of this decline, there are predictions that the quota will not be reached within the first few months of this year. Rather, many suspect that the bachelor's quota won't be reached until the middle of July, and that the master's quota won't be reached until later this June.

We shall see how the number will play out in the next few months.

    Hey,

i created a "Deep Zoom classic + Source" template.

The only thing i still need for my project is to know when a image got clicked/is in the users focus!!! (a single subimage)!

I would be very thankful for help. (A method would be the best and the insert point!)

Yeah i know there are some methods on google but they don't fit in this generated code...

Deep Zoom is very cool but i don't understand why the api is so bad designed.

There should be a event on subimage, something like "Clicked", "focused"...

    Thank you!:luigi:
